Who We Are

About Us

Broadford Presbyterian Church has a formidable history within the local community, but it also has a message that is contemporary to the times we now live. The original wooden church building began in 1860 and was located on the site across the road on the land that now contains the Broadford railway station. We moved to our present site and building in 1910.

The construction of our current church building is of a Gothic style and has a seating capacity of around 80 people.  Currently, there is a great need for upgrades within the building itself, but it still maintains its original charm. Today we proclaim the peerless and timeless message of Jesus to our local community. We are ever looking to be relevant and a participant in our local community.

We are located at 51-53 High St. The traditional building is plainly in need of some care and attention, but you will find inside a group of people who will offer you a warm welcome and a worship service which is God honouring and a blessing to your soul.

Our style of worship does not have any excesses. We do sing, pray, read our Bibles, and our pastor will preach explaining a passage from the Bible. We understand the great need of our day is to have a clear presentation of what the Bible says, and how it can affect our lives. The Bible is God talking to us and telling us what is required of us in our times.

When you come and join us, please stay after the service for a cup of coffee or tea in the hall. We would love to meet you and have a chat.  We understand that your lives are busy but please let us take some time to encourage you as you live out your daily lives.  Our desire is to help you glorify our God, and to come to a greater understanding of what is the Christian faith. We know that God gives gifts to every one of His people for the good of the Church, and if we can help you with the use of your Christian gifts, we will be very pleased to assist you.

Our Leadership

Eldership

We are like all Presbyterian churches, under the oversight of Elders. Our Elders are chosen because they have the ability to teach and preach the good news of Jesus. Our Elders are to care for the flock of God, and they are to rule over the business of the church. The Elders are to be the guard against false doctrine.  At BPC we have 3 Elders, one is a local Elder and 2 are appointed by the presbytery from other Presbyterian churches.
